Pending Write-up: Just Me (Track 3)

The Pending Write-up: Just Me.

Ahhhh “Just Me”! What can I say about this track. It originally started out very dark. I was initially going for the solitary feel, in essence the song describes the title perfectly. My inspiration for the track was my frame of mind during my younger days, when I was much more naïve and the world was much more simpler.

There was a period in my life where I never really talked to anyone. While most of my close friends were partying it up, I was working a couple jobs barely getting sleep. I had recently moved so there was less chance of me hanging out with them because I didn’t drive. While trying to save money for a car I relied heavily on public transit. I wrote a crap load of material during these days. It could be because I wasn’t partying and smashing a whole bunch of chicks why my material was more heartfelt and uplifting. I think that was due to the space I was in. I mean I didn’t enjoy working all those hours and having to take the bus.

Who knows maybe it was my subconscious way of motivation myself…..lol yeah sure buddy!

I created the original skeleton of the beat and during the mixing process my dude Lone Monk felt that the song could be bigger…..sure enough he delivered and the track’s universal status…….

*those snares at the end tho kinda serious no?*

Pending Write-up: Untitled (Track 2)

Funny thing about this track is that fresh off of purchasing a cpu and keyboard this was one of the first three beats I made.  STOP!!! Before you say to yourself “DAMN Dwayne made that crazy as beat!!?!?” Nah what I created was a deformed stepchild version of the final version.  The homie Lone Monk gave it a complete face-lift.   The core of the beat stayed the same but the sound got sharper.

I wrote this verse while listening to a lot of Colin Monroe.  He released a mixtape entitled “Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero”.  There is a track on that record called “Cannonball” featuring Drake.  It is a really dope record where each describe their musically talents as cannonballs.  When I made the beat I wrote this 16 and got the homie Leftfield Keele on it and it was a wrap!

Pending Write-up: (Track 1)

I have decided to do write-ups on each track, since the album release on March 28th.

“Pending” as a whole is presented as an art exhibit.  Each track is supposed to symbolize an artist’s painting, where the painter is actually the MC.  The record is divided into three different periods: “Bereavement, Introspective and Growth”.  Each section is accompanied by a short intro courtesy of a tour guide.

In this first intro the guide explains the artist’s vision for the fore coming tracks.  This intro sets the tone for the first period and gives the listener concepts to keep in mind while listening to the song.
