Day 9

Day 9

I was able to find the book cafe recommended to me by Takahiro and it did not disappoint.

The bar serves as a huge library for Japanese “counter culture”. This is a term used for the hippie movement in Japan. At this bar I had several conversations about On the Road, mainly Dean’s character. There was a debate on whether or not Dean is a nice guy or not. A few had thought he was a cool guy while others thought he was a jerk.

Most of the patrons couldn’t speak English except for a few but it was great talking to them, even exchanged contact information with a few people.

This country is really taking a hold of me. I will never forget this trip or the new friends I have made!

Day 7 – Shinjuku the Busiest place on Earth

Day 7 – Shinjuku the Busiest place on Earth

I took a walk down Shinjuku street to a huge park. It was called Goyen park, and it seemed like a pretty big deal. There were tons of tourists there. I took many pictures of the park, I will make sure I post them.

After the park I walked some more to a curry house. I had a type of curry soup with vegetables and chicken, it was excellent.

I was also ale to find a nice carpet shop and bought my mother a small rug.

Tomorrow will e more eventful, my new Tomodachi Takahiro suggest a book cafe I visit in the Shinjuku area. The store is about an hour away by walking. I walk everywhere anyway taking public transportation is requires to much effort on my part.
